Ribonucleic acid. A group of nucleic acids that handle the information used to make proteins. Unlike DNA, a molecule of RNA has only a single strand. RNA carries out several important tasks in the making of proteins. Messenger RNA copies parts of the DNA's code, and transfer RNA uses this information to link up the molecules that form proteins.
